Do you have sweet memories of music you listened to at Christmastime when you were a child? I do. I don’t remember how we got it or why we had it, but I grew up listening to a tape (yes, I’m from that generation) by Derric Johnson’s Vocal Orchestra called “Christmas in Velvet.” When I listened to the tape each Christmas season, I was always amazed and thrilled by “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Talk about goose bumps! The ending was pretty heady stuff for a little Kansas country boy.

I don’t listen to that recording every year, but I still enjoy hearing those songs and reliving the good memories attached to them.

We’re at the end of the season now, but I thought you might enjoy hearing the song that thrilled me so long ago. This recording doesn’t have the same title as the tape I grew up listening to, but it’s the same song sung by the same people.

You might not have a lifetime of memories attached to it like I do, but you don’t have to in order to rejoice that “He will bring us goodness and light.”

Merry Christmas!
